FAQS
WHY COOK WITH SPICES?
Understandably, not many people are familiar with or comfortable using spices. Aside from varied health benefits most spices have, they also add tonnes of flavor and dimension to plain dishes. Most bland tasting healthy meals can be turned into delicious creations without the added calories with spices.
DO SPICES EXPIRE?
Spices generally do not expire. However, they do lose their potency, pungency and hence flavor when exposed to air, light and high temperatures.
To best enjoy them, use within 1 year of opening the packaging.
Generally, ground spices last upto 1 year while whole spices can last upto 3 years when stored correctly.
HOW DO I STORE MY SPICES & HERBS?
One Good Knife Spices come in sealed brown zipper packets which prevent air, bright light from degrading the spices and herbs. However, to increase their shelf life and freshness, store the spices away from high heat areas (above the stovetop) in a cool dry place.
CAN I REFRIGERATE MY SPICES?
Please do not! Spices rapidly degrade in humid areas such as the refrigerator.
ARE THE SPICES AND THE BLENDS NUT AND GLUTEN FREE?
One Good Knife does not carry any spices or blends currently that have any nuts, seeds or gluten.
Please note: The spices are processed in a shared facility where nuts and flours are carried. There is a possibility of cross-contamination.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COMPOSTABLE AND BIODEGRADABLE BAGS?
While biodegradable means the bag will breakdown eventually and return to the earth. However biodegrabale bags leave behind a metal residue.
Compostable, in the right conditions, breakdown into natural hummus with no residue.
I DO NOT COMPOST, WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH THE BAG?
Ideally we'd love for you to start your own compost pile but we know many can't. Rest assured even if the bag ends up in a landfill it will eventually degrade.
